A Letter to the Community
Greetings to our Partners, Donors, Sponsors and Supporters,
Communities thrive when organizations choose collaboration over competition, stewardship over short-term thinking, and investment over charity. This belief is at the heart of Sigma Public Education and Research (SPEAR) Foundation.
Between the years 2024 and 2026 (during FY25 and FY26), we continued advancing a model of community investment that extends beyond traditional philanthropy. We invested in initiatives that expanded educational opportunity, strengthened health equity, developed emerging leaders, empowered women and families, and increased community well-being across the United States and Ghana.
Those investments translated into measurable results. Over the past two fiscal years, SPEAR expanded direct community investment, strengthened governance and operational infrastructure, increased philanthropic partnerships, and enhanced its ability to measure, report, and demonstrate community impact. The pages that follow provide a snapshot of those outcomes and the Foundation's continued commitment to responsible stewardship.
We fulfilled our responsibility as a fiscal sponsor, fiduciary steward, and collaborative liaison ensuring that philanthropic resources entrusted to the SPEAR Foundation were managed with transparency, and accountability. As the philanthropic partner of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., the SPEAR Foundation provides fiduciary stewardship, financial administration, and collaborative infrastructure that support community investment initiatives implemented through international and regional leadership, as well as collaboration with local chapters. Together, we have strengthened communities by investing in education, health, youth development, leadership, and community wellness.
We are equally grateful for the contributions of our corporate partners, including Macy's, whose support has helped expand opportunities to serve children, families, and communities through collaborative service initiatives. We also recognize our healthcare institutions, educational partners, nonprofit organizations, volunteers, donors, and community leaders who continue to make this work possible.
This Executive Community Investment Review illustrates that lasting community transformation occurs when philanthropic investment is combined with collaborative partnerships, responsible stewardship, and local leadership.
This report also reflects an important organizational story. FY25 represented a period of transition, restructuring, learning, and recalibration. By the close of FY26, SPEAR has achieved meaningful progress in strengthening governance, partnerships, infrastructure, and strategic clarity — positioning the Foundation for a more intentional and measurable future in FY27.
As you read this investment impact summary, I urge you to look beyond the numbers to see communities strengthened, leaders empowered, organizations equipped, children supported, families encouraged, partnerships expanded and hope restored. Every investment highlighted in these pages represents people working together to create opportunities that will continue benefiting communities for years to come.
To every donor, volunteer, partner, chapter member, community organization, educator, healthcare professional, and philanthropic investor who has contributed to this work, thank you.
Because of you, communities are stronger, partnerships continue to grow, lives are changing, and lasting impact is happening.
As we look ahead, SPEAR remains committed not only to funding important work—but to building the systems, partnerships, and accountability structures necessary to sustain measurable impact for generations to come. On behalf of the SPEAR Foundation Board of Directors, we thank you.
In partnership and gratitude,
Dr. Charmaine Davis-Grant
